The TeraStation will perform a Disk Check under a few conditions.

If the TeraStation was shutdown improperly, it will perform a Disk Check the next time it boots.

There are a number of ways the TeraStation can be shut down improperly:

  • If you unplug the TeraStation from the outlet, or flip the power switch on the back on the TeraStation, the unit will preform a disk check on the next boot.
  • If there was a power outage, or if the power button was held in too long, the unit will prefer a check disk on the next reboot. The proper way to turn off the TeraStation is either through the web interface, or by holding in the front power button till the power led starts flashing.

If the TeraStation has not performed a disk check in the last 120 days (or 32 reboots) it will perform one on the next reboot.
