Client for Microsoft Networks is installed but is not configured by default.

  1. Go to [Control Panel] > [Network and Internet] > [Network Connections].
  2. Right-click on the adapter being used and choose Properties.
  3. Go to the Properties of Client for Microsoft Networks and set the Name Service Provider to Windows Locator.
  4. It defaults to nothing in Vista, meaning no local name resolution.
