WEP Issue on WHR-G125 Router
Created 06/21/2012 02:47 | Updated 06/21/2012 08:58
The WEP on the WHR-G125 tells wireless clients that it is using 802.1x EAP authentication instead of WEP.
This occurs more frequently on Vista than XP.
This problem occurs because of the WPS authentication method, which is very similar to the 802.1x method. The WZC of the operating system cannot process the WHR-G125's packets properly.
To avoid this please adhere to the following:
-
Use the Buffalo Client Manager instead, as it can handle the WHR-G125's packets in the correct manner.
-
Users will need to manually configure their computer for WEP and turn off 802.1x.
- Vista users will need to change the SSID and create the connection manually on their computer.
- Using the same SSID will not work. If users first tried to connect to the router via the original method, they will need to change the SSID before trying again.
