How to format the hard drive to NTFS format?
There are two ways to format the hard drive.
Format the hard drive from Disk Management
Format the hard drive from My Computer

Start the computer, then log in with the administrator account.

Click [Start], then right-click [(My) Computer].

Click [Computer Management (Manage)].

Click [Disk Management] under "Storage".

Check the drive assigned to the product.

Right-click on the volume that you want to format, then click [Delete Volume].

Click [Yes] if you are prompted the warning.

Right-click an unallocated space on the hard drive, then click [New Simple Volume (New Partition)].

In the Simple Volume Wizard, click [Next]. Or, click [Primary Partition] to select partition type, then click [Next].

Specify the size of the volume in "Simple volume size" ("Partition size" or "Amount of disk space to use"), then click [Next].

Click [Assign the following drive letter], specify the drive letter, and click [Next].

Click [Format the volume (partition) with the following settings], select [NTFS], configure the desired settings, and click [Next].

Verify your settings, then click [Finish]. Formatting will begin. Process is displayed as a percentage.

If the formatting process was completed, "Healthy" will be displayed in addition to the volume label and partition.
If the message "The request cannot be completed because the volume is open or in use" is displayed:

Format the hard drive from My Computer |

Turn on the computer. Connect the AC adapter to the USB hard drive and an outlet. Connect the USB cable to the computer and USB hard drive.

Open [Computer (My Computer)], then double-click [HD-XXXX]*.

Back up any important data.
|

Open [Computer (My Computer)]. Right-click [HD-XXXX]*, then click [Format].
|

Check [Quick Format] on the Format screen, then click [Start].
|

When "All data on the drive will be erased by formatting." is displayed, click [OK].

When "Format Complete" is displayed, click [OK].
|
8. |
To make sure about the format type, right-click [HD-XXXX]*1 and click [Properties].
|
9. |
Confirm that the format type is "NTFS".
